440px Odin55 300x220 Anthony Hopkins Joins the Cast of Thor
Since announcing that an almost unknown Australian actor would be playing the title role in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, Marvel Studios has added some pretty significant players to co-star with Tom Hiddleston. First Natalie Portman was revealed to be playing Jane Foster, Thor’s mortal love interest, and now Variety is reporting that Anthony Hopkins will be donning a big beard and bear skin cape as he takes on the role of Odin, Thor’s father. Marvel Studios also announced earlier this year that Tom Hiddleston would be playing Thor’s half brother (Or is it sister these days, I can never keep those gender swapping Asgardians straight these days). Stellan Skarsgaard and Colm Feore will also be in on the action when Thor hits theaters on May 20th 2011, but right now it’s anybody’s guess who they’ll be playing.

I’ve got high hopes for Thor.  I don’t know if it will meet them, but I really think this flick has the potential to be better than Iron Man.
