I’ve managed to get my grubby little paws on some video footage of Bane’s appearance in this summer’s upcoming blockbuster multi-platform console sensation Batman. Now, it’s cut scene cg footage, so it’s not quite party time….but. It’s Bane. For those of you who are tainted by Joel Schumaker’s iteration of Bane from the eternal hole of suckyness that was Batman Forever trust me when I say this. Joel Schumaker ruined Bane in that flick, the real Bane was about as bad as Batman villains get. So if this video doesn’t make you pop a gianourmous nerd boner, I suggest you checkout the Knightfall series of trade paperbacks. To give you the heads up on that series, in a nutshell, it’s about how Bane destroys, Bruce Wayne, breaks his back, and then screws the whole thing up. You won’t believe the lengths Bruce Wayne goes through to reclaim the cowl. Now I know it’s not over, but the series is head and shoulders above the recently concluded Batman RIP, and ongoing Battle for the Cowl arc. To give you an idea of just how great Knightfall is, I kept all three volumes in the bathroom at work back in the late 90’s, and they were so engrossing one day my boss brought 2 of them back to me and said I had to take them home because they were cutting into productivity too much. When I reminded him that there were 3 volumes, he said I could have the last one back when he finished it. True story, so please, if Bane’s not one of your favorite Bat-badguys take the time to make him one, you won’t be sorry.
