Well apparently somebody stole a copy of this month’s Game Informer which has their exclusive details on the upcoming sequel to Assassins Creed. Now, normally I would never condone stealing of any type. But, in this case the thief (or info assassin as I like to call him) was kind enough to email me with the details. So in a nutshell here is what, according to the email I received this morning you can expect to see.

The game will take place in 1476 where you assume the role of Ezio Auditore deFirenze, another descendant of Desmond’s. deFirenze is an Italian nobleman, and you will roam the countryside of Tuscany to complete your missions. Hopefully you haven’t been sent back in time to assassinate Michael Corleone while he’s in exile to prevent the third Godfather movie from happening.

Ezio has all of Altair’s climbing, jumping, and running abilities, and can also swim and fly (with some help from Da Vinci’s flying machine). You’ll see many of the sites Tuscany has to offer as you now have 16 different mission types, none of which are eavesdropping or pick pocketing. Which is awfully good news to me.

Assassins Creed 2 features a whole host of new weapons to try out on guards and annoying citizens, as well as an ability to use your enemies weapons against them. I know it’s a small thing, but that was always something I wanted to do in the first game. The weapons themselves also look like a huge improvement from the first game. This time around you will have an axe,a hammer, a mace, a spear, two different types of sword, a spear axe (whatever the hell that is),and a pair of smaller blades at your disposal.

Finding all the hidden treasures that made me so crazy in the first game will also be a big part of the sequel. Honestly, I was pretty lukewarm on the first game, and while it sounds like they’ve addressed many of my complaints. I’ll have to read some pretty stellar reviews before I invest a ton of time with this one.

I guess when Game Informer hits shelves in North America, we’ll find out if the info assassin is as reliable a source as I’m hoping.
