bioshock 2 delay The Rapture Will Have to Wait Until 2010: Bioshock 2 Delayed Until 2010

Returning to Rapture will have to wait a awhile after Take-Two announced a delay for anticipated  game Bioshock 2 on Monday. In a conference call, Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick cited quality concerns as the reason for the delay, and asserted that the move to a 2010 release date would provide enough development time for the game to meet Take-Two standards. The expected release date for the game was sometime before the end of the company’s fiscal year, which would have meant an October release.

This delay is an unexpected turn of events, at least personally. I was looking forward to traversing through Rapture with a whole new set of power and abilities to use on some unfortunate splicers. It might be easier to accept this news if it meant a better single-player experience; the quality of the original Bioshock has proven that the 2k studios are able to produce a great single-player experience. If this delay is due to concerns about the multiplayer, then I’m not a happy customer. The original Bioshock stood on its own as a great experience, without multiplayer, and any returning players are looking for the same quality in the sequel. If players are looking for a multiplayer experience, there’s always Halo 3; there’s no need for Bioshock or any strong single-player game to become a ‘big tent’ game, providing a one-stop gameplay experience for players. Well, time moves on, and 2010 release date is not really that far off; it just means more play time with Beatles: Rock Band.
