Capcom Unsure About Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Update; Bonus: Video of Chun-Li Working Out
Street Fighters looking to share some elbow room with a complete stranger in hopes of kicking their ass in next year’s Super Street Fighter IV are currently lost in game purgatory as Capcom decides on an arcade release of the title. The arcade version of Street Figher IV, the latest in Capcom’s beloved fighting series, was never actually released in North America, but appeared in arcades through well-connected importers. If the game does reach arcades, the once-complicated procedure of updating an arcade title by replacing the arcade board for Super Street Fighter II would translate into a system update for Super Street Fighter IV in a 21st century arcade, according to Capcom’s Seth Killian. Super Street Fighter IV, expected to release March 2010, will feature the return of Street Fighters Dee Jay and T. Hawk, as well as new addition Juri, along with several unannounced fighters. Street Fighter could repeat in 2010 as console fighting champion.
From Capcom’s perspective, there is no reason to leave the current arcade versions of Street Fighter IV without an update, given that it would be a simple system update procedure. It might end up taking less time than the average PS3 update. And any tournament-based play would dictate the demand for the update. It really only is a matter of time before Capcom officially announces an arcade update. Until then, enjoy this promo for the upcoming Ongamenet show SF4 Fighting Spirit, featuring Korean model Ryu Ji Hye, dressed as Chun-Li working out in a gym.
