Variety reports that Martin Campbell, the director of ‘Casino Royale’ (2006) and the upcoming Mel Gibson feature ‘Edge of Darkness’ is in negotiations to direct a live-action film based on the Green Lantern. This is great news for DC comics film productions, which have have lagged behind their Marvel counterparts in bringing DC properties to the theaters. In the right hands, the Green Lantern movie could be the first film of the next big superhero franchise.
