Expect to fulfill your heroic aspirations with the upcoming Champions Online open beta expected mid-August in anticipation of the September 1st release date. Champions Online is the much-anticipated title from Cryptic Studios,
developers of previous super-heroic title City of Heroes/City of Villains. With deep character customizaton, Champions looks to allow players to take the role of superhero as well as comic creators like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. With Champions, the MMORPG arena has a new contender in a genre of games dominated by the fantasy themes. Champions Online will be available for the PC and Xbox 360 on September 1st.

Champions will likely take up a large amount of my game time, if it lives up to the hype. City of Villains was an enjoyable experience; it didn’t have the great quest lines found in a title like World of Warcraft. With the ability to create a Nemesis, Champions will remedy this problem, allowing players to determine the course of events. That said, a great Champions Online experience would include the balanced gameplay from the Cryptic Studios titles City of Heroes/City of Villains.
