green lantern movie Chris Pine is NOT Locked in to Play Green Lantern

Earlier this month we did a story that hinted that Chris Pine, was penciled in to play Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. With Pike already portraying Captain Kirk in this summer’s Star Trek reboot, with Hal Jordan on his resume all that would be left for him to do is play a young Martin Riggs in the upcoming Lethal Weapon Year One and he will have played the three most heralded law enforcers anywhere in the universe.

Clearly no man is capable of playing all three, and in an interview with mtv Pine confirmed that he is no where near locking in to play Hal Jordan. Which is A OK with me. He’s not a comic fan, knows dick about the character, is too young to play Hal Jordan, and I’m already jealous enough of him for getting to be James T Kirk. But it’s not all sun and roses on the Hal Jordan front. Pine did confirm that he had talked to the movie’s executive producer and is interested in doing the movie. According to Pine, even though he’s never read anything about Hal Jordan, Kyle Raynor, John Stewart, or anybody else in the corp, he “loves good stories” and thinks that there must be a good story there. Hmmmmmm you think so Chris? Did you think a character created in 1940 is still around because there are no good Green Lantern stories? I’m liking this guy less and less.

In a somewhat related note. I read somewhere that Geoff Johns said to a fan at a convention, that in his opinion George Eades (Nick Stokes from CSI) is as close as he could imagine a real person getting to accurately portraying Hal Jordan. I also would love to see Stiffler play Guy Gardner. Here’s to dreaming. I could be in for weeks of therapy if this movie turns out to be junk, I’m way to excited about it
