OK here we go with another comic review which I’m unofficially calling: Shit I Read This Week (OK not really this week but last week when i bought them, give me a break OK). So in the last couple of weeks I’ve mangned to spend about $110 on comics, now to some that may not seem like a lot but when your under a mountain of debt and aren’t making a lot of scratch $50 bucks a week on little pieces of coloured paper can look like a waste but lets be honest (at least with each other) those little colored pieces of paper are Fucking Awesome (most of the time anyways).
Alright now I’m not going to list all the comics I bought just a select few (since if you read my stuff you know some of what I bought from my other reviews). Now last week I only went in to buy a 25 cent comic and spent just over $50, that being said I did enjoy what I bought.
First up Wolverine Weapon X #1, Now you might be thinking another Wolverine comic really do we need another one? Well I’ll say yes just because Wolverine is one of may favorite characters (I know everybody likes him). So first the cover looks sweet the rest of the books art is pretty good, a fair amount of blood (needed in a good Wolverine comic). Story wise much of the same (but who cares if it still works right) someone out in the world is starting up the Weapon X project and Wolverine goes off to shut them down. Favorite part: Wolverine passed out drunk on the subway by himself (the best stories are just about him anyways) when the lady across from him is robbed at gun point, the muggers turn on Wolverine and while not missing a beat under the newspaper he is sleeping under cuts of one of the muggers arms and looks more pissed at being woken up then anything else. So if you like that sort of thing this comic is probably for you.
Second up we have Deadpool Suicide Kings #1 of 5 . I love Deadpool comics everything from walking down the street in full gear to narrating what he is about to do and running his mouth (one of the reasons why I’m looking forward to Ryan Reynolds playing him in the Wolverine movie). So as in any Deadpool comic we have shooting, sword play, blood, dismemberment, and explosions, all of which look good (especially the explosions). As with Wolverine, the story looks familiar, Deadpool gets a job that sounds too good to be true and it turns out to be a set up which gets him blamed for something he didn’t do (standard but once again still works). Favorite part is hard for this one because I love how insane he is and his delusions are great but I think I’ll choose the end where after the t.v. tells us how bad Deadpool is and how he needs to be caught and brought to justice we then see The Punisher with a Big Ass Gun so we know where issue #2 is going.

Third we have Army of Darkness/Xena Warrior Princess Why Not #1 of 4. Now as far as I’m concerned you can never have too much of the chainsaw swinging, boomstick waving, deadite killing, hail to the king baby, that is Ash (plain and simple). The art is a little more simple than the previous entries but if you like the army of darkness stuff (if you don’t you have no taste anyways) it wont matter. Story wise I love the opening this is my favorite part, it starts of back in the Third movie (Bruce Campbell vs. The Army of Darkness) we flash back to the windmill scene where Ash is stepping on all the little Ashes that came out of the broken mirror, one little Ash opens his mini-knapsack and finds THE MININOMICON and in true Ash fashion, opens the book , reads the words wrong, and is flung through time and space, and ends up in the world of Xena Warrior Princess. Man I can’t wait for issue #2
Lastly (and the only reason I went to the comic shop that day) we have the relaunch of Buck Rogers #0 (it’s only 25 cents). This comic seems to take place at the end of Buck Rogers life (we are lead to believe anyway) where he faces off against an alien life forms bent on destroying earth. Issue #1 is supposed to take place at the beginning of his career. Bucks story in a nutshell is this; space craft accident lands of earth 500 years in the future where he becomes a hero. Now I’m only going to give you one reason to buy this and it’s because IT’S ONLY 25 GODDMAN CENTS YOU CHEAP BASTARD I MEAN COME ON WHAT THE FUCK IS IT GOING TO HURT IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT REMEMBER IT WAS ONLY A FUCKING QUARTER I MEAN JESUS WHY THE FUCK HAVEN’T YOU BOUGHT THIS YET THE PRICE WONT KILL YOU SO JUST BUT IT ALREADY. There that feels better but seriously it’s a nice taste of a comic enough to make you want to go and but issue #1 when it comes out.
So that’s my 2cents, hope you liked it and go out there and pick up a comic or two, either what I had read or something else, but something. Good luck with what might be lurking in your local comic store, who knows, you might just find something special out there.
