Ever bought a rare comic off of a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy? Have you ever imagined that you could be helping drug dealers?

In Denver, Colorado two brothers Aaron Castro (29) and Alfonzo Castro (30) have been accused on running a huge drug ring that imported and distributed methamphetamine,  also known as “Meth”. These two were distributing up to 100,000 doses of Meth each month by using female “mules” that would hide the drugs on themselves to transport it throughout the metro area. This bought in about$500,000 a month for the Castro brothers. Now this is where the comic books fit in; in an attempt to try to launder all that money they were starting up a company that sold high-end comics. The police seized a collection of comics totaling at least $500,00 (looks like proceeds from the entire month) ranging from Batman to Superman some of them first editions all bound and covered in plastic covers.

I guess the real question is “what’s going to happen to those comics after the investigation is done?”. I’m sure some of us comic book fanatics wouldn’t mind going to that police auction and picking up a first edition of Superman for a killer of a bargain. Still I wouldn’t doubt the price would be high but not as high as they would be on the open market. Maybe I should sell some drugs to make enough money to buy them….hm….interesting idea. All seriousness folks drugs are bad and crack is smack, and getting caught dealing in it is not worth the penalty. I hope this shines a light on where you should buy your comics from, and who you might be supporting if you do buy them.
