When I was young I started to fancy drawing; on the very last pages in binders marked Math, Science, English you would find little doodles of everything from dragons to snakes , even the morbid depictions of human body parts.  Still, I’m sure you won’t find a member of ESG that won’t say that I still don’t dabble in drawing something while we meet, and yes, at times I might throw something a little creepy in.  Since I know damn well that I’m not the only one with a passion for drawing I’m glad to present a chance to work with DC on their marketing campaign for their upcoming project Absolute Justice.

The 2009 Design Scholarship Challenge, sponsored by Brooks Institute, Brown College, Collins College, Harrington College of Design and the International Academy of Design & Technology along with DC have came together to allow people with an eye for design, to make a print and online ad for the Absolute Justice graphic Novel.  Fifteen local winners will receive a $5,000 scholarship at one of the sponsoring school and a trip to the Sad Diego Comic-Con 2009.  While at the Conic-Con you will spend a 3-day, 2-night expense-paid trip where you’ll get to present your second set design ideas to a panel of judges (hopefully some big wigs at DC).  If you’re lucky you could be the national winner and you’ll receive an additional $20,000 scholarship and the opportunity to work with DC Comics on an upcoming marketing campaign.

Sadly the contest is eligible for participants graduating from high school or GED between January 1,2006 and August 31, 2010. Which means people like me who have been out of high school longer than ten years don’t have a chance in hell to win. But If you fall in this bracket I fully encourage you to take part and become the person most of us can only dream to become.
