This week in sci-fi dvd: a blu-ray release of a classic series, a Saturday morning nostalgia trip, and a one-eyed monster

Star trek: the original series will finally be released on Blu-ray to the delight of fanboys everywhere. This is  just another release of the original series that I will intend to pick up, but get distracted by a shiny object. Anyone who hasn’t tired of feral mutant Wolverine can find more of the Canadian sensation in this week’s release of the first two volumes of Marvel X-men, the greatest comic book animated series. This week also sees the release of Spectacular Spider-man Vol. 4. I have yet to check out Spectacular Spider-Man, though I have heard good things. The Uninvited will be released this week, which is an American remake of Korean horror film A Tale of Two Sisters. Yet another in a line of remakes from Japanese or Korean film; although this one does have both Emily Browning and Elisabeth Banks. Critically-acclaimed JCVD features Jean-Claude as himself in a hostage situation. For fans who demand that animated characters have large eyes and spiked hair, the seventh season of the Inuyasha series is released this week, in a addition to a Beck box set. This week also sees the release of The Terminators, for those who want to watch a low-budget film that has no connection to one of the summer’s biggest movies. Also, keep at least one eye out this week for what is the best title for a movie I’ve seen in recent history, One-eyed Monster, a tongue-in-cheek take on Alien and The Thing starring Ron Jeremy.
