New on DVD this week is the movie Donkey Punch. I can hear some of you snickering waiting for me to come out with a surprise saying “Gotcha”. Since the last time I checked this was not April 1st; this is a serious movie and to help clarify this again THIS IN NO JOKE the film is really called Donkey Punch. If you have no idea what a Donkey Punch is I highly suggest looking the term up on the Urban Dictionary, don’t worry I’m not going anywhere………….. Done? good we can movie on. I’m sure none of you have ever preformed such a nasty act such as that but I’m sure some of you have thought about it once or twice, and don’t worry you’re not alone, just you’ll never see me raise my hand to that.
I know you’re thinking “What’s this movie really about?” and well I’d love to fill you in. The movie starts with us being introduced to three girls: Lisa (Sian Breckin), Tammi (Nichola Burley) and Kim (Jaime Winstone). Tammi has just broken up with her boyfriend who you find out has cheated on her, so Lisa and Kim decide to take her to Spain to help her get over him. While bar hopping they come across three guys looking to have fun: Bluey (Tom Burke), Sean (Robert Boulter) and Josh (Julian Morris). While getting to know each other one of the guys pipes up a suggests that they continue partying on his yacht. Not wanting to turn down a being able to party on a yacht the girls follow the gents to his boat where the girls meet another one of the friends Marcus (Jay Taylor). Soon they depart and travel into the open sea. No sooner have they laid down their anchor when the drugs and alcohol get brought out and everyone gets shit faced. Soon both sexes get hot and heavy and a small orgy breaks out where one of the girls falls victim to a failed Donkey Punch attempt. Soon the girls face a battle out at sea on a boat with four other guys who must protect themselves from anyone else finding out.
The characters are extremely believable, the guys are masking their fears with brutality and anger so well that you almost feel that they had really done this cruel act to someone. The girls play off each other nicely allowing us to see both their fun side and their survival side. Soon for everyone the idea of sticking together breaks down like a house of cards and the self preservation instincts kick in forcing each other to fend for them selves.
Props must also go to the writer of the story, sure the name grabs you but you sit unaware about the story that begins to unfold. As each person shows their true side the story evolves into so much more that you become transfixed and start to guess what would you do in this situation.
One thing that really turned my crank was the dialog in the beginning of the film. I find almost no problem with most British films but once in a while there’s one that comes out that the accents are so slurred that they almost becomes un-decipherable. The worst part comes when you want to switch it to subtitles only to find there’s one set and it’s in Spanish.
For most of you males out there you might also become uncomfortable with the dudeity (the appearance of more male nudity than female) but I can say it’s more believable than the long blue three foot tripod of Dr. Manhattan’s from Watchmen.
I know you’ll want to see this just for the name, heck I did. But as the movie unravels you realize that there’s so much more than just a Donkey Punch. If you’re interested I suggest clicking on the trailer below, go out watch the movie and in the end if you’re going to do some stupid sex maneuver stick to the Angry Pirate or the Tony Danza and stay far away from even attempting a Donkey Punch, who knows you just might find yourself in the same type of situation.

WTF??!! a Tony Danza, is a more brutal version of a Donkey Punch.
