Alright folks it’s review time, damn these openings are getting harder to write every time.  Really what the fuck am I supposed to say to you guys? Look it’s more comic book reviews sometimes filled with hate for shitty writing and or art (but mostly writing). Well no hate this time it was a good week in Cool Terry’s comic buying world (and it cost me less than $ 70 this week hooray).

First up Wolverine Weapon X # 2 so If you had read my earlier installments (and I know you did) then you know all about issue one and if you don’t go read my other posts. So we left off with Logan wondering how many other weapon x graduates he will have to deal with.  In issue #2 we pick up with a news room doling out assignments and we see the reporter that Logan saved in issue one while trying to get a bead on the weapon x program. Page jump to Logan arriving on the pacific coast of Colombia, enter one dive bar (always the best source of information) a little play acting, and the new kids on the block see first hand why you don’t fuck with Wolverine.  Although this time around he does have his hands full and when the fight goes south (like 12 0r 13 to 1 south) our hero takes off into the bush where we end with the shot of Logan hiding in the jungle waiting for the dupes to follow, and you just know how issue 3 will start most likely with the death of several of these wolverine wannabees. Once again standard Wolverine fare but it still works and it is still good.

Next up we continue to follow Garth Ennis and his tale of a WW2 tank crew in Battlefields The Tankies # 2 of 3. As in issue one we have more blood, guts, and attitude.  In this issue there’s  more death (remember it is WW2) and more wounded as our crew endeavors to reunite with there squad.  We also bear witness to the defiant last stand of a small group of soldiers (9 to be exact) against the marching German army.  This gropup of nine is lead by… well if you saw him ,you would probably think a he looks like a geek (or at least some one with little to no combat experience). We end this tale with our crew stopped ( scrapping a German soldier off the tank treads) ; bu t  while they’re concealed in the bushes a German tank crew stop by to end all the  sitting around. Looks like the last issue will end in a fire fight.

I’ve got another Wolverine review for you to take a look at, this time it’s  Wolverine Noir issues 1 and 2 .   This is really  a different type of wolverine story,  one set in the late 30’s and one that finds Wolverine with no powers. Logan is a private detective, he and his partner have a place in the bad part of town when in walks that dame who you know has no business being in that part of town and offers a large sum (1000 in cash plus expenses) to take a job. Now we all know that this can only mean trouble but hey a 1000 bucks is a 1000 bucks right? So it’s  job taken.   We also  get our flash backs to Logan’s life as a kid and his training;  looks like his Irish gardener studied some martial arts and taught Logan some of his moves.    More importantly though, he taught Logan how to use knives,  specifically a 3 bladed knife which when held in your hand look like claws (sweet). So the job goes bad when Logan’s partner goes missing while investigating the case (looking for a one Mr. Creed) and it looks like it’s up to Logan to find him. The second issue ends off with Logan finding Creed and after getting the holy hell kicked out of him Logan is left in a dark alley. Now myself I loved these books (but then again I love crime stories and the private detective stuff set in the 30’s and 40’s this shit is great) but for some of you a Wolverine without powers will be a no go and all I can say to that is it will be your loss not to pick these up.

Lastly we have another comic from Garth Ennis,  it’s a spin-off of The Boys called Herogasm this takes all of the so called heroes from the Boys comic and puts them together as they claim to be off to fight an alien force with the capabilities to  destroy the earth. In reality it’s a way for all of them to escape to a private island and party it up with hookers, drugs, and booze.  Our favorite band of government agents are going to be there to watch what goes down and maybe even take out a few of the supes (if we are lucky that is). Now if you have no idea what the fuck I’m talking about you suck and I mean really suck.   The Boys  is probably the best story going on out there in comic world right now and you should be reading it (remember this is coming from the guy how usually misses out on this kinda stuff the first time through and that’s why you get “It’s new to me Dammit” articles) and to top it off one of the characters looks like Simon Pegg (and if you don’t know who that is I’m about done with you. You are on your own now).

Well it looks like I escaped another week of comic shit and I’m glad for it although I’ll probably pay for it in the upcoming weeks with a story worse then normal but hey they can’t all be gold right? (ah who am I kidding they fucking damn well better be or I’ll be pissed off and not even Jesus Christ and his zombie killing ass could make me feel better)
