Following recent developments in the legal battle over the rights to a Fallout MMO, the development team at Interplay has released some concept art for the ongoing project, codenamed V13. Interplay entered an agreement with Fallout 3 developer Bethesda, in which Interplay retained the rights to the Fallout MMO, The concept art (view the gallery) features the remnants of an industrial complex, an airplane graveyard, a wannabe Mad Max, and a desert landscape, including obligatory cacti. Its safe to say that the game is early in development, and further development will be dependent on the status of the lawsuit. Interplay has not yet set a release date for V13.

This back and forth with Interplay and Bethesda could potentially result in a tough decision for Fallout fans; a great single-player experience with Bethesda, versus the virtues of a persistent world set in the Fallout universe. One thing is for sure; Pipboy has a rough road ahead as an unintended casualty of a broken home.
