Jon Favreau, Director of Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 Director Jon Favreau has announced he will be ‘Skyping a bit from the set of Iron Man tonite on Jimmy Fallon’. Tune in to see if he breaks any new shots from the set or reveals any new images.

This falls fast on the heels of an interview with Empire where he commented “Rhodesy is definitely stepping up in this film. Let me put it this way: Tony’s not the only person with technology in the film”. This seems to be a fairly obvious clue that we will get to see War Machine in action in Iron Man 2.

Mickey Rourke has also piped up about the armor his character wears in the film. “It’s been really brutal, because my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb,” said Rourke. “It’s sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison.”

The Whiplash character in the Marvel Universe has always been a bit player, it seems more likely that he is more a pseudo-Omega Red without the in-depth back story to let the writers have some more flexibility in the story without upsetting the fanboys.
