In the world of nerdity there are definitely enough man crushes to go around when it comes to Gerard Butler.  Despite currently appearing opposite Katherine Heigl in some goofy chick movie, Gerard secured himself a place in the heart of many a geek when he kicked that black dude (I believe it may have been Manute Bol) into a giant hole.  With the upcoming action flick Gamer set to go this fall it looks like Gerard Butler is staying put as most nerd’s favorite tough guy.  If you’re a fan of King Leonidas there’s even more good news,  apparently Butler has been linked to an as of yet unannounced Captain Britain movie.  I’m not sure how Captain Britain could possibly springboard to the front of the movie line, but if you’re going to build a movie around a c-list hero Gerard Butler would be the guy to cast in the lead if you’re looking for fanboy love.

According to ShowbizSpy the movie would be be a little grittier than the Marvel movies we’ve grown accustomed to; they compared it to the Marvel version of The Dark Knight.  Like Captain Britain is going to do for Marvel what Batman did for DC…  I’m going to withhold judgment.

On a bright note though, Brain Braddock (Captain Britain when he’s not wearing spandex)  is the brother of Psylocke, and since I’m pretty sure there won’t be any licensing issues like there have been with other Marvel movies, there might be a chance we could see the whole Excalibur team in the movie.  I’m actually liking the sound of this movie more and more.

Keep in mind it’s just a rumor at this point, the movie hasn’t even been officially announced yet.
