Ghostbusters Game is Now a PS3 Exclusive
Here’s a bit of a dirty trick that’s been played on wii and Xbox360 owners. The June 19th cross platform Ghostbusters game is now a PS3 exclusive. Sony swooped in, snagged the publishing rights from Atari, and pulled the rug out from would be ghostbusting 360 and wii fans everywhere. Not totally though, Sony plans on releasing the game on the other platforms when the PSP version of the game is ready sometime this fall. Sony is the game’s third publisher, Activision dropped the title last summer during the merger with Vivendi leaving the door open for Atari to snatch up the title, which of course the coughed up to Sony according to reports. Atari also issued a statement today suggesting that the game will reach a wider audience with Sony publishing it. Now I’m no rocket scientist, but does that make sense to anybody? If you figure it out let me know, I’m not quite buying that making it a PS3 exclusive helps with putting the game in more hands. I could be wrong though, I never claimed to be the worlds smartest guy; just it’s best looking one.
The game looks great and all the early previews are saying that the game play is spot on, so while you’ll have to wait a bit if you’re not a PS3 owner, check out the trailers anyways.

“The Sony Computer Entertainment partnership is exclusive to Europe, Atari is going to be publishing on all platforms in the US on June 16,” clarified Wilson.

I have been waiting years for this game and now I’ve got to wait another few months!!
When I catch the guy in Atari who signed the deal with Sony I am going to kill him….
If Sony is reading this – Go fuck yourselves, I am still no way in hell buying your shitty console.
Guess this is what we get – after years of having exclusive downloadable content and better games we are dealt this low blow.
Go fuck yourselves Sony – I wouldn’t take away your childhood dreams like that.

It makes sense from a world wide perspective. Japan is the gaming center of the universe and the XBox360 doesn’t sell well there at all, also the Wii doesn’t have the hardware specs to compete with the PS3’s quality.
By making it an exclusive, at least for now, it puts all the marketing dollar behind one product. This is the best option for some developers.
