Volume 5: Redemption
Chapter 1: Orientation / Jump, Push, Fall
Claire:
Claire finally has gotten herself out of high school and into college. While there she meet her new roommate Annie who is her complete opposite; energetic, optimistic, out going. While Claire tries to settle in, she is pushed by Annie to take the Linear Algebra Placement Test to help determine her future. While she takes her placement test she falls asleep and has a vision of of being kidnapped by a squad of men with masks. Upon waking and finding it was only a dream she decides this isn’t for her and takes off. While walking around the campus she bumps into a new girl named Gretchen and they soon become friends. After Claire and Gretchen attend a mixer party, Claire goes back to her dorm to find that Annie had killed herself after jumping out of their dorm room window. The police soon arrive and question Claire, but something is amiss when the police start talking about evidence they had found when they checked room such as a suicide note that wasn’t there until AFTER she jumped.
Hiro and Ando:
Hiro still has the crazy idea that they could both be hired heroes, so they start up a Dial-A-Hero service back in their home country of Japan. Without any calls and all the expenses being charged to his sister’s company, Kimiko Nakamura is getting very upset with the waste of company money. She soon cuts off their funds before risking anymore money in their enterprise but it doesn’t disparage the two when they finally get a phone call. They rush themselves out to help save a little girls cat who is trapped on top a roof of a building. Finding themselves in a situation where they cannot use their powers, Hiro and Ando must do things the old fashioned way to rescue the cat. Ando goes up while Hiro watches but as soon as Ando get the cat he falls, forcing Hiro to stop time to save his friend. Once time is restored and Ando is safe, but Hiro does something he had never done before, cause himself to be in a complete trance like state. Ando brings Hiro back to the office where he finally gets Hiro to snap out of his trance. This worries Ando as he knows that every time Hiro uses his powers it takes a toll on his body. Hiro feels that if he hadn’t got a fortune he received fourteen years ago he would never be in this situation where he would be as close to death as he is now. Without even actively using his powers he is sucked back fourteen years, back to where his infatuation of being a hero begins. Hiro soon becomes his old self and feels he must never change the past, no matter how tempting it must be without tragically changing the future. This seems all right but he soon comes across a man by the name of Samuel Sullivan who forces Hiro to make a change in the past telling him that it may not be as bad as he led himself to believe. Just as suddenly he was brought back to the past he found himself back in the present. To him everything is as it was when he left, but he soon discovers something has changed, something has changed for the good, and soon Hiro begins to think about what Samuel had said.

Peter is back at his old job again, being an ambulance driver and paramedic. He wants nothing to do with his old life and even is ignoring his brothers attempts to contact him. Angela his mother is not happy with Peter ignoring his brother; fearing that if not properly nurtured Nathan may turn back into Sylar. Refusing to bend to his mothers pleas, Peter feels he must redeem his past by doing everything in his power to try to save people that really need his help. This all becomes possible due to his collection of Mohinder Suresh’s power which allows Peter to jump super high, lift heavy objects and for some odd reason allows him
to run just as fast as Daphne did.
Matt:
Matt Parkman is happy living with his wife again while watching his child grow up. Another one from the group that wishes to ignore everything that happened six weeks ago. He even wants to try to live as a normal human by never using his powers ever again. But as soon as he feels he can put everything behind him he receives a phone call by someone he wished would never contact him, Angela. She tells Matt that there is something wrong with Nathan, that he is not right. She asks him to do what ever it is he did to convince Sylar that he was Nathan. Matt ultimately refuses, feeling that what he did in the first place was wrong. He tries to go about his merry after his conversation with Angela but can’t because what ever he did six months ago is starting to unravel and he soon he is visited by Sylar who only Matt can see and hear. Sylar is not happy at all that he is trapped within Matt and because of this he taunts Matt and forces him to do things he doesn’t want to do.

The man in the glasses is never finished, never out, never done. No matter how much he tries to get away from his past his past keeps on catching right up to him. He is contacted by Angela who forces him into working for her once more. Angela was only the beginning of his bad luck because she isn’t the only one who he bumps into from his past, he soon comes into contact with Tracy in her liquid form as she tries to kill Noah in his own car by drowning him. He is saved by his nemesis Emile Danko who wants to continue his hunt for people with strange powers and wishes to use Noah for his expertise in the field. Noah turns him down telling him as well he wants nothing do to with crazy ideas. This is over heard by Tracy who later visits him at a bar this time in her human form. The two talk and Tracy confesses her hatred for Danko and want to see him dead before he decides to go back on his idea of filtering those that are different. Noah promises her that it will not happen, he will visit Danko and give him an offer to leave and to never come back. Noah approaches Danko and offers him some money to go off and never come back but sticking to his beliefs Danko doesn’t back down. Noah is not done with Danko just yet, with his back up plan Noah brings out the Haitian who soon erases Dankos’ memory back before any of this ever happened. Noah later get a phone call from Tracy saying that she went to Danko’s apartment and found him murdered by a man with two sets of knives moving at an incredible speed. Noah does an investigation into Dankos death and find hidden within the stomach of Danko a key, which opens up a locker, in within the lock to his surprise is a compass.
Angela:
Fearing that at any point in time that Sylar will revert himself back to his normal form. Because of this she tries desperately hard to make sure Nathan can remember all that he can about himself to help fight off any chances of Sylar coming back. While waiting at a restaurant for her son Nathan, Angela has a vision, in her vision it is Sylar not Nathan that comes by, but he is oblivious that he is anyone other than Nathan. After they have a conversation, Nathan begins to explain to her about how powerful and invincible he is feeling, that he wants to be a better him. This bothers Angela deeply, knowing that shortly, very shortly something bad will happen. Because of this she tries to contact Matt who she asks to have Sylars’ memory erased again. After she is turned down, she fears the worse that if nothing is done that Sylar will return and cause havoc once again.
Nathan:
Desperately wishes to talk to his brother, calling him dozens of times without luck, the only person he feels he can turn to is his mother. After the meeting with his mother at the sushi restaurant he heads back to the office where he begins to drink coffee. While trying to reach of his cup that seems to be on the other side of his desk, Nathan forces the cup towards himself with his mind. Amazed by what has transpired, he tries again to move the cup but with no succession, instead he discharges electricity from his fingers. He has truly mystified and with the only person who he feels he can turn to he calls up Peter and leaves him a message about something happening to him.
Samuel Sullivan:
Samuel Sullivan, leader of a “family” of carny folks with powers. He can cause living tattoos to appear on people’s bodies with his mystical ink pen brush. Without a clear motive to his actions, he is on the look out with people with powers to join his “family” and to search for a long lost compass. He, I believe will be the new threat behind the show.
