Gamespot recently snagged an exclusive interview with Valve’s Doug Lombardi and a few new Left 4 Dead 2 details were revealed including new features such as a unspecified new mode, weapons upgrades and a new melee system. The sequel to last year’s holiday hit Left 4 Dead will feature a whole new cast of characters, and a new setting. This time the fight against the Zombie Apocalypse takes place in New Orleans, as survivors team-up to make their way towards a safe house and a few moments of respite from the oncoming zombie hordes. Left 4 Dead 2 recently made news when an irate group of Steam users (game server client and virtual game store) mounted a virtual protest against the sequel, forming a new Steam group, aiming to boycott Left 4 Dead 2, with the intent of addressing a list of complaints, citing concerns such as a lack of downloadable content (false; there’s a new title update on the horizon, as well as a new map editor), and a rejection of the sequel as a stand-alone title (the first people to complain will be the first in line to purchase the game). The Steam group has their work cut out for them; pre-orders for sequel have already doubled the pre-orders for the original. There’s also news about a demo that will be available to both PC and Xbox 360 players prior the the November 17 release date of the title. With all the new features in Left 4 Dead 2, it looks like this holiday season, undead zombie corpses will be dancing in players heads, instead of the relatively quaint sugar-plum dreams.
