Marron’s Comic Quick Pick

After an unexpected hiatus last week, I’m back to spread the word about all of the awesome comics that are coming out this week. For those of you that don’t know, I’m also and artist and a graphic designer, and I’ve been working on a project for a national charity that’s been eating up my time. Even though I may not have mentioned comics last week, I still thought about them and still read them. Comics are like a balm for the geek girl’s soul, you know.

That said, let’s get into this week’s top picks!

1. Ultimate Comics Avengers #3 - Captain America has gone rogue and Nick Fury has put together a team to bring him in, including Tony Stark’s mysterious older brother. I’m really excited about this comic; I’ve enjoyed it immensely thus far. I have a feeling that the you-know-what is about to hit the fan this week, because Hawkeye doesn’t seem to happy about Fury’s methods of bringing Cap back into custody. Plus, well, the Hulk is on the cover. That doesn’t bode well!

2. Stargate #0 – If you hadn’t noticed by all of my gushing over Star Trek and Orson Scott Card, I’m a big sci-fi fan. So, it’s no surprise that when I saw that this comic is coming out this week, I gave a girly squeal of delight.  This story, taking place in the Stargate Universe, is worth the buy for any Stargate or sci-fi fan — at only $1.00, the price can’t be beat!

3. Die Hard: Year One #3 – Yippie ki yay! John McClane is a rookie street cop patrolling the streets as the bicentennial celebration nears in 1976. The last thing he’s expecting, however, is a threat from an eco-terrorist! There’s a ditzy blonde that McClane runs into that might be the key to everything, but will he be able to stop the eco-terrorist strike in time?

4. Green Lantern #47 – I’m still really digging the Blackest Night story. I don’t think that this whole war between the Blue Lanterns and Agent Orange is very helpful! Don’t they see all of those Black Lanterns rising from their graves?!

5. Arkham Reborn #1 – Dr. Jeremiah Arkham is doing his best. He’s rebuilt Arkham Asylum after the Black Mask destroyed it during the Battle for the Cowl. He even followed the design of his mad uncle, Amadeus. Something’s not quite right, though. Jeremiah is hearing voices from beyond the grave, and the building is turnig from a place for enlightened treatment of mental illness to an inmate torture house. This promises to be a most excellent story!

Well, that’s all I’ve got for this week. There are a ton of great comics coming out this week, and there’s sure to be something for everyone — and if not, well, there’s always next week!

What is the rumor about the new Star Trek TV show coming out? My brother has been talking about it all day, can’t be true, right?
