Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint for PSN and XBL

I don’t know of many games that have stood the test of time the way Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has. Maybe it’s because so many great characters are included, maybe it’s because it’s a dream crossover of a game, or maybe it’s just that good. For me though, I don’t know if there has ever been a game I’ve played so much across three console generations (I count the Dreamcast as part of the N64, PS1 generation), and I’m not really a big fighting game guy.
So it brought a tear to my eye to hear that the version we will be getting on our PS3’s and Xbox360’s won’t have any new characters due to licensing restrictions, no new costumes either. So what will it have that’s new? Well the big one here is going to be a smooth and seamless online experience, apparently MVC2 will be the best over the internet fight you will ever have (other than MSN arguments of course, I’ve got a text log of a humdinger of a tilt, with a guy who didn’t like what I had to say about Joe Quesada). The other big stuff that the Capcom is bringing to the party this time round include new formatting for 16:9 screens, new high res backgrounds, and a create-a-sound track feature.
Create-a-sound track you say? Wow, talk about traversing a slippery slope. That is the soundtrack I love to hate. When I get the game up on my screen I know I’ll want to do it, but I don’t think I’ll be able to pull the trigger. That game just won’t be the same without the worlds most annoying song. Well at least the choice will be mine. As far as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 goes, no official word yet, but buy the game because I don’t see how anybody could say no to a new entry in a series with the legs that this one has shown.
Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes’ is out this summer and will be your to download for the bargain price of $15.
