Well holy frak! Looks like someone has been watching a little bit too much Discovery Channel lately.  Knock another notch on the belt of The Asylum for producing and releasing more material  into  their long line of fine fine entertainment; MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS.  Seriously!.  Sadly enough I’ve viewed a couple of their movies, take Transmorphers for example,  a blatant rip off of the name Transformers which has nothing to do with trans”morphing” robots.  Don’t forget  AVH: Alien Vs Hunter, which you guessed it…is also a rip off of the Aliens vs Predator name which (trust me) 20th Century Fox didn’t take to kindly having their AvP franchised Spoofed. I don’t know what their deal is, many MANY people hated the movie AvP but lets us not get into AVP:R.

They say never judge a book by its cover, same thing goes with these films, the cover art is great, well… as great as independents go, but pop in the film your in for a wild ride to nowhere’sville.  Since their reputation for me is nothing but tripe I can only guess their newest film  MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS is going to be like everything else that has spewed out from the infectious body of The Asylum, HORRIBLE.

If you are wondering who’s in it, well I can guaranty you, you have not heard of them. We have Deborah Gibson who (I swear is a porn star, or ,maybe a child pop star…perhaps both) has been in such classics as My X-Girlfriend’s Wedding Reception and Body/Antibody and Renegade star Lorenzo Lamas, who’s also been in Snake Eaterr and Gladiator Cop. (Hm….note to self possible Forgotten Movie idea’s).

There’s one thing good about all this, if you’re looking for something to do and have a few hours to waste, pick this movie up once it hits DVD grab a few buddies, stop at your local beer store grab a 24d each  and sit down for one hell of a night.

If you don’t like the idea of a giant shark and a giant octopus throwing down then check out the other movies The Asylum has put out here.

Check out there trailer for MEGA SHARK VS GIANT OCTOPUS here at filmschoolrejects.com.

Look for it on DVD May26, 2009
