Hail to the King: New Game Releases For the Week Ending August 1
Terry Bogard and co. return to the home consoles this week with the release of King of Fighters XII on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Watch as the folks at developer SNK Playmore bring King of Fighters XII into the ring to take on all challengers, including contender Blazblue from Arc System Works, developers of the post-apocalyptic acid-trip that is the Guilty Gear series. When these two games compete against each other, all players benefit; both games preserve the tradition of 2D fighters, while evolving an otherwise standard game type with high-def visuals and addictive gameplay. Next up is the release of Bionic Commando for the Windows from developers Capcom and GRIN. Already released for the current-gen consoles on Xbox 360 and PS3, the title brought the Bionic Commando series into the 3D realm, grappling hooks and dystopian future intact. If spiked-hair fighters and bionic limbs don’t catch your fancy, there’s always trade routes and naval battles in PC title East India Company. Make sure you keep those Dysentery and Syphilis gameplay modifiers ON; anything less would be uncivilized. And if you haven’t had enough of Bubble Bobble spin-off Bust-A-Move, there’s a new title on the DS; and this time, it’s in space. Space Bust-A-Move offers the ability to “play up to 4 players through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or DS Download”, which means there will be at least four people that will play this game. Players can now enact their ambitions of intergalactic dominance via Bub’s cranking with two blood-stained hands as players “travel to several different worlds to battle intergalactic bosses.” Next week: ‘A Real American Hero’ release on all fronts (no, it’s not a Stephen Colbert game).
