I’ve never seen such rampant speculation about so many nobody actors before, but Nikki Finke’s exclusive at deadlinehollywooddaily.com is finally putting an end to the madness. According to Finke, Kenneth Branagh has cast Chris Hemsworth in the title role of Thor. Now if the name Chris Hemsworth sounds familiar it might be because it sort of sounds like Chris Collingsworth; or it might be because Hemsworth can currently be seen playing the role of George Kirk in JJ Abrams blockbuster hit Star Trek.

Hemsworth has also been cast in the lead role in the upcoming remake of Red Dawn. Well even though I can’t say as though I like him more than Jeremy Shockey playing the god of thunder, at least the wait is over. I must admit, there is a bit of resemblance to Thor too(Check out his imdb profile, there’s not enough text here to justify 2 pictures and I never pass up an opportunity to show off this wicked variant cover of Thor I found). Now if only they would cast Captain America and Green Lantern…
