The Bat-franchise will have to wait, at least until Christopher Nolan signs onto the project. At least according to a new statement from Gary Oldman. If you can’t trust Commissioner Jim Gordorn, who can you trust? In an interview with Ain’t It Cool News, Oldman recanted, dismissing a previous statement at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con during a panel in support of upcoming film The Book of Eli. Oldman previously stated that the next Bat-film was set to start shooting next year, setting up for a Summer 2011 release date. The new statement is less exciting, with Oldman assuring Bat-fanboys with a more diplomatic “well, I’m sure they want to do another one… it might 2 or 3 years…”, which is still a victory for those keeping score. With Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Gary oldman all concerned about the fate of the next Bat-film, who will be next to set the record straight on the project? Nolan has been silent on the next Bat-film; maybe it`s time he stepped up and kept the rabid Bat-fanboys up-to-date on the third film.
