At times I wish I lived in a much bigger city, for you see there in the city of San Francisco lies a small art store. This small store carries a whack of the trendiest collectibles from Japan, and on June 20th 2009 they decided to have themselves an art show. Not just any art show, oh no!, but a collection of some of the coolest pieces of art revolving around He-man and The Masters Of the Universe. When I came across this my jaw not only hit the floor but a yellow liquid which was up to a few seconds ago sitting comfortably in my bladder tried to escape my body at a tremendous rate. He-man was one of the coolest cartoons I have ever seen as a child. There was something about He-man that kids (boys) could really relate to, he was tall, muscular and when he talked it sounded like Allah himself was speaking. Sure he wore nothing but a loin cloth and road around on a giant tiger that could talk, but I didn’t care. I even was captivated by the look and design of the characters that he encountered through out the show. I don’t think there was one character I didn’t mind ever seeing in the show….well….ok there was one, Prince Adam. I knew, as did everyone who watched the show that he was the real identity of He-man, but purple tights, a white shirt that didn’t leave anything to the imagination and the pink vest, only made it a lil clear that this guy was, shall I say a little fruity? Even his animated walk didn’t even seem right.
In the tradition as the 8-Bit game show is done in, there is a wide of different art work done by varying different type of artist. As you can tell at the pictures that all of these fine artists really went balls out to show case not only their talent but to show their love for Masters of The Universe. Sure they took them, twisted them, put funny hats on them and even made them look fat but they never destroyed, the true feeling that is He-man and The Masters of The Universe.
I’m just so jealous by all the people that live by and where able to go to the showing, I bite my thumbs at thee. But If your around the area and want to stop by the address is 1821 Powell St. at Filbert, San Francisco, Ca.I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Most of the art if not all of the art below can be purchased at the website doublepunch.com.
Enjoy :)
