spiderman costume Raimi Talks Spider Man 4MTV’s Splash Page reports that Sam Raimi has begun collaborating with writers and producers on the story for ‘Spider-Man 4′, while work has not yet started on the fifth film. Raimi confirmed that the next movie would cover familiar territory; with characters and storylines from within the Marvel Universe. He went on to mention that “All the characters or villain or villains, whatever we decide to do will be from Stan Lee’s creations or those that came after him.”, which would be the entire Spider-Man continuity. Here’s hoping that the story will focus on one villain like the first two in the series, and less like Spider-Man 3, with the attempt to shoehorn two villains into the movie.

Raimi also expressed a desire to continue working with Kirsten Dunst, who portrayed the Mary-Jane, Spidey’s long-time girlfriend. He added, “I’m hoping she’ll be in it and I’m planning on having a story with her in it.”

Spider-Man 4 is set to release May 6, 2011.
