I know what you are thinking, but if you’ve come here thinking you have found your chance to heckle an internet nerd for posting news that there is something new coming from a guy who’s been dead for years…it’s not that Roddenberry. Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry has struck a deal with Toolbox Productions to release over 500 hours of previously unseen footage from the show’s archives. The deal which was reportedly worth $2million will bring fans a video encyclopedia of interviews, and behind the scenes looks at Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. There were no details at all with regards to when or specifically what would be included. My nerd wish list of things that happened but fans have never seen includes some of the screen tests (Seeing Denise Crosby try the role of Deanna Troi and Marina Sirtis trying Tasha Yar on for size would be cool, although my dream screen test would be seeing James Avery try out to play Worf) as well bloopers, nothing beats out aliens dropping f’bombs.

There were also no specifics with regards to a release date, but this is going to take time if it’s going to be good. There’s a reason that nobody has seen any of this stuff before and it’s because unless handled properly it’s going to be about as interesting as listening to my Uncle Maury explain his system for picking the winning lottery numbers(He’s never won shit). So while I don’t get a vote, if I did it would be for Toolbox to take their time and put out something good for the fans instead of throwing a bunch of crap together to make sure it’s in stores by Christmas.
