I’m sure the first thing someone thinks about when I mention the movie Jaws is of course the Great White shark. There is nothing cooler than a Great White, for sure, but after that the next character to surface (no pun intended) would be Martin Brody (Roy Scheider), the new chief in the town of Amity Island. Roy did an excellent job in not only playing a law enforcement agent but also one who is torn between what he should do and what the mayor want him to do. When a boy dies under his watch after listening to the mayor, he goes out with a vendetta to make sure this shark never kills again.

What most of you didn’t know, and what even I didn’t know was that before his death on February 10, 2008 of multiple myeloma. Roy Richard Scheider was in the middle of making a movie called “Iron Cross“.

The movie sounds fascinating, Scheider plays Joseph,a retired NY officer who travels to Nuremberg to make amends with his son after rejecting him years earlier for declining a promising career in the NYPD. In the apartment above where his son lives, Joseph believes there is an aging SS Commander who, during World War 2, murdered his entire family. Joseph convinces his son to seek out and strike vengeance into the heart of the SS Commander.

Now I feel that I’m going to take flak for this but I don’t care, I have seen acting done by Heath Ledger and Roy Scheider I feel hands down that Roy Scheider is a FAR better actor than Ledger ever was. If Heath got best supporting actor then Roy should get best actor. But since Iron Cross is and will never be as big as The Dark Knight was, the chances of people seeing this will be slim.

Sadly there hasn’t been a lot of information about a release date but all the rumors point to 2009, and from what I gather, very soon. Watch the trailer bellow from Clipboard Junkie and then tell me this movie doesn’t look like it’s gonna kick some ass. Sure it’s not Inglourious Basterds, but this movies deals  more heart and realism.
