Mike Flemming of Variety has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds will be playing the role of Hal Jordan in Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern movie. With rumors of Ryan Gossling, Justin Timberlake, and Bradley Cooper floating around as possibilities to play Hal Jordan the geek in me is thrilled to hear that Reynolds will be playing the role. Fanboys everywhere will be screaming bloody murder that Nathan Fillion was passed over, but suck it up geeks, you can’t always get what you want.

Hopefully Reynolds being cast as Hal Jordan will delay the inevitably bad Deadpool movie that Reynolds will make at some point. I also can’t help but wonder if he would have been better suited to play Wally West. Now if only Geoff Johns were doing the script. Steve Buscemi as Sinestro anybody?
