Well empireonline.com is reporting some news that I don’t think many of us saw coming.  Apparently Sam Raimi will direct the long rumored World of Warcraft movie once Spiderman 4 is finished. I don’t know that this would qualify as earth shattering news but on my score card Raimi has only directed one bad movie…well ever really (I haven’t seen his first three movies though) and there is certainly enough to work with in the World of Warcraft universe to make an awfully good movie. So while I’m not doing the full blown happy dance over this announcement, I am doing the Borat 2 thumbs up “very nice” over it.

Apparently next year while he’s shooting Spiderman 4 Raimi will oversee the development of World of Warcraft and as soon as Spidey is good to go he will jump into WoW. While it’s certainly an ambitious schedule, I hope somebody reminds Raimi that Spiderman 3 was bad; lets cross our fingers and hope that juggling 2 enormous franchises like this won’t result in a repeat performance of the craptacular flick that introduced us to Emo Spiderman.

There’s no word on what characters, stories, or bits of World of Warcraft lore will be included in the movie. There’s an abundance of source material so let’s hope the movie skips the part where everyone is controlled by a geeky adolescent with bad hygiene and no personality. That wouldn’t be so cool.
