Snake Brains and Table Tops: Gizmos and Gadgets: August
Yeah, another month, another look into the strange and unusual in the world of Gizmos and Gadgets. There is always crap floating around but once in a while something comes along and really takes off. Think of mp3 players, they were once an idea turned into a gadget and the great thing about it was you didn’t need to carry around CD’s or to a lesser extent audio cassette tapes. Sadly these things cost us $300+ and the max was 32MB but it did what it needed to do and we were happy. Now we have players hold upwards of about 160 GB and they do more now than just play music, heck I don’t know what these things can’t do anymore, they have everything from being able to play video, to taking pictures to even allowing us to control our very minds. Ok I made that last one up but it’s just a matter of time really. Currently these five gadgets don’t have the popularity as (lets say) an iPod, but everything started somewhere.
1) QLOCKTWO

This stylish little number is brought to us from the people at Biegert and Funk, who have re-defined the world of the clock. This little guy updates itself every five minutes, but it doesn’t leave you hanging about those lost four minutes, oh no, it actually lets you keep track of those as well by have four little dots on the face to fill in that missing time. It also has a light sensor that will automatically adjust the brightness in ambient light. The best part is, its an atomic clock, so no setting it manually just take it out of the package, turn it on and place it on the wall, ’nuff said. The down side to this little piece of wonder is that it doesn’t start off cheap, at 885.00 Euro or $1,260 (USD) you might just want to settle buying one of these. Check out qlocktwo.com for more.
2) All Edges Brownie Pan

How many of you out there like brownies? How many of you like the pieces from the edges? That’s what I thought. Well as you can tell we’re not alone, the company Bakers’ Edge has made our brownie dreams come true. They designed a pan that allows everyone that sweet sweet edge piece, but there is a problem. It appears that not everything is kosher, if one looks closely at the ends of the pan, one can see that the end pieces have more walls touching it creating more dense chewy edges. This will only create more fights among brownie lovers. It’s yours for only $34.95 (USD). You can check it out at bakersedge.com.
3) Lego Rolling Cookie Cutter

As someone who is above the age of four, I can say this idea is simple, but I don’t think I’ll use it just for cutting cookies, HELL NO!, I can see many, MANY applications for it such as cutting up steak, potatoes, and even cheese into little itty bitty Lego shapes. Now the bad thing, if your a parent and you decided to buy this and make some cookies for your young one, make sure they’re onld enough to tell the difference between what’s suitable for eating or else your gonna have to rush your child so they can pump out the colorful plastic pieces that are sitting on the bottom of little Timmy’s stomach. It’s yours for a very low low price of $12.99 (USD) from shop.lego.com
4) Glowing USB Keyboard and Speaker System All in One

Some times combining two different things can lead to just crap. This…well I wish I could tell you, but if you think about it, it only makes sense. In reality this has already been done to death but that’s only IF you count laptops, if not this is a very intelligent idea. Not only does it have a speaker built into it to save space, you can literally see what your doing when you are using a computer in the dead of night and wish not to turn on any lights. The best thing it has going for it is how stylish this thing will look with any computer, even your pink Hello Kitty Computer (or maybe not). Yours for 7,980 Yen or about $85 (USD). You can pick this bad boy up at direct.sanwa.co.jp
5) Zoom Sharkalaid Storm Shadow GI Joe Pack

Now I don’t know about this one. What does Nike have to do with G.I.Joe? like really? Well apparently they are the authentic footwear provider for Storm Shadow. No wonder he dies in the movie, he should have gone with Reebok. I don’t care how much of a fan you are to G.I.Joe but I say save your money cause baby, these things are gonna cost you $200(USD) smackeroos. Probably the most confusing part of this whole thing is not the shoe itself but the packaging, look at the Cobra symbol above the picture of Storm Shadow, now are they telling me that Cobra IS the enemy or is Storm Shadow Cobra’s enemy, I’m not quite sure. I can say for sure if you want to see more of this shoe that looks like it would be worn by third graders then you can look go to osneaker.com and if you have the disposable income, you can even order it there.
Well that’s it, I’m out, lets see what September has in store for us, till then Happy Motoring.
