nero cover resized Star Trek: Nero Hits Comic Store Shelves in August

If you saw Star Trek in theaters, and read the Star Trek: Countdown comic you know that Romulan mega-bad mofo Nero spent 25 years hunting down Spock, who he blamed for the destruction of his home planet Romulus. Now even in the future, 25 years is plenty of time for adventure to ensue. So it’s only logical that after the success of Star Trek: Countdown, the comic prequel to this summer’s big screen hit from JJ Abrams, that IDW would follow the 4 part mini-series with a new monthly chronicling Nero and his crew’s search to administer justice to those responsible for the destruction of Romulus.

The book will be written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, and illustrated by David Messina. Since part of the commercial success of Countdown was tied to the cameos from most of the main characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation it comes as a bit of a surprise that this series won’t have any cameos in it, but Johnson assured fans that there would be some guest appearances from the original series.
