kickasscover Studios Fighting Over Kick Ass
Remember when rumors of a big screen adaptation of Kick Ass surfaced? Back in those days everybody in Hollywood thought that the language was to strong and the violence was to …. violent, I guess. Anybody who’s ever actually bothered to read Mark Millar’s book knew that it would be a movie that theater goers would be all over, and yet it still seemed that the only way the movie would get made was if somebody financed it independently. Luckily for all us fanboys Matthew Vaughan decided to do just that.

Now that the movie has been shot, it seems everybody wants to get in on the Kick Ass action. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate, Paramount and Universal are all bidding to get their hooks into the film, which previewed at Chicago Comic-Con last weekend, and at San Diego Comic-Con earlier last month. I don’t know that it really matters which studio wins out, I’m just glad that Matthew Vaughn opted to make the movie on his own. That’s pretty sweet, considering we’re dealing with the guy who directed Stardust. If you’re still not sold that this is going to be a great movie go pick up a copy of the comic, and when you read it keep in mind that McLovin’ is playing Red Mist. Nothing more need be said.
