I enjoyed the HBO Animated series. It wasn’t top notch but it was what the movie should have been. All I’m saying is if they reboot the movie franchise, they should keep it adult rated. They shouldn’t be afraid to alienate non Spawn fans. Keep it close to the source, don’t cheese it up for people who have never read a Spawn comic so the studio can sell a few extra tickets at the box office.

I don’t second that to the HBO cartoon. I feel in love with it, it was very very close to the comic. No topic was too taboo, and come on the voice of Keith David was a perfect choice. Sure the parts were long and really showed you how tortured Al Simmons was but how else could they have done it. But yet, that’s just me.

You must have missed the HBO cartoon raf. It was dirty, more violent than the comic, no question about it. It was in the spirit of the book for sure…it just sucked thats all

McFarlane needs to learn from the mistakes of others. If they do reboot Spawn, they need to keep it dirty. Spawn isn’t Spiderman, Superman, or Batman. Keep the movie dark and the subject matter adult. Trying to turn Spawn into some kinda saturday morning cartoon character is the wrong move.
