Well this makes allot more sense. Last week we threw you a tidbit of casting speculation regarding Tom Hiddleston as a possibility to play Thor. I was a little shocked, I thought that Hiddleston was a little to weasely looking to play Thor, and was relieved to see and hear that Australian actor Chris Hemsworth would play the role instead. Now though, it’s been announced that Hiddleston will play Loki in the film. I’m feeling way better about this flick now.

In case you’ve never read the comic, Loki was Thor’s foster brother. Odin, Thor’s father and head god in charge of Asgard, (HGIA) found an Asgaridan infant in the stronghold of the frost giants and took him as his own. Growing up in Odin’s castle wasn’t much fun for Loki, inferior to Thor in terms of his physical prowess, Loki excelled in the area of sorcery instead of might and caused him allot of teenage angst; I believe his first mini series was called My So Called Immortal Life . The Asgardians valued strength, bravery, and skill on the battlefield above all else, and Loki was…well, a bit of a weasel. Needless to say Thor was the favorite son of Asgard. The Asgaridans thought of Loki as the god of mischief, but as he got older it became pretty clear that he was more into evil than mischief.

It’s a little known fact that Loki was responsible for getting the Avengers to assemble for the first time. Loki tricked The Hulk to do his bidding and forced Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to come together and take the green giant down. With the rumor that Hulk might be the villain in The Avengers movie, my prediction is that this movie will deal with life in Asgard for Odin’s sons and set the stage for Loki to be the criminal mastermind behind the scenes in The Avengers flick. Sort of a super powered Keyser Soze; or Keyser Loki if you will.
