Comic fans and 80’s cartoon weenies might want to sit down for this one; tomorrow night on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim we are going to witness the debut of the new, adult themed GI Joe cartoon GI Joe: Resolute. Here’s the big news, the series is written by Planetary and Transmetropolitan creator Warren Ellis. If you’re not a fan of Ellis, I’d suggest that you check out either of those titles, or The Authority. I can’t think of anybody better to be writing an adult themed GI Joe story. In an only slightly related side note, if you’re looking to add some people to your following list on Twitter, you can’t go wrong with Ellis, the guy is hilarious, and that’s a tall order with only 140 characters to impress readers with.

GI Joe:Resolute will air in the form of 11 five minute episodes and a 10 minute finale that’s slated for April 25th. In total there are 60 minutes of GI Joe goodness to go around. So be sure to check it out, it will be well worth the time investment. Check out the trailer.
