Earlier today mtv spoke with Channing Tatum, about the possibility of Tatum putting on the red, white, and blue mask, picking up the shield, and playing Captain America on the big screen.  According to the actor, he would love to play Cap, but is pretty sure that Scientologist incognito (alleged scientologist incogneto I mean) Will Smith will be the one taking the super-soldier serum, not him.

There have been no shortage of rumors with regards to who should be Cap; Matthew McConaughey has publicly said no, while WWE superstar John Cena, threw his hat into the mix, and then took it out.  Other less well-known entertainment personalities Neal McDunnough and Jason Lewis have been attached to the role over the past few months as well.

No matter who gets the part, I think that with the Marvel movie franchise hanging in the balance they will make sure that the role is filled properly. I might take on some water for saying this, but I think Will Smith would be a terrible pick. Cap is without question one of the most serious guys in the Marvel Universe, so while I think that Will Smith as The Falcon might work, I’m not sure he’s the right guy to be Captain America.
