Wannabe Death Knights now have a new obstacle on the road to level 80; Popcap has released an official peggle plugin for World of Warcraft. Each game on its own has caused the strongest-willed player to ignore daily obligations. World of Warcraft, of course, is Blizzard’s MMORPG in the Warcraft universe, with over 11.5 million subscribers at last count. Peggle is best described as pachinko and Arkanoid’s love-child. The combination to the two is sure to have an effect on the efficiency of Western Civilization, not to mention the world of Azeroth. The carefully measured high associated with leveling up or receiving rare loot is now staggered by the dropping of steel balls on pegs. The 11.5 million subscribers of World of Warcraft will now have a second all-consuming addiction that will take over their lives.
As a former World of Warcraft player, and occasional Peggle player, I am intrigued by the possibilities of a Peggle plugin. I’m not sure if I’m an anomaly or just in denial; world of Warcraft is notorious for return players; and Peggle does not accept any mistresses. The promise of denying another player of loot by dominating in a Peggle session with my peg-skills (not tournament-tested) might be too hard to resist. I’ve recently considered returning to Azeroth, but the prospect of having to deal with the two-headed snake awaiting my arrival is enough to re-think the situation.
