xbox 360 logo 300x202 New Additions to the Xbox360 Platinum Hits Lineup
Microsoft announced today that they were adding eight titles to their platinum hits lineup. With these games and prices starting at $19.99 how can 360 owners go wrong? In case you missed them when they came out here are the games, and my two cents on whether they’re worth picking up.

Fight Night-Round 3: Boxing games don’t get better than this. At least not until Round Four comes out later this year. If you don’t have this one in your library you should. Even if you’re not a fan of the sweet science you’ll be a fan of getting a game this good for such a low price My Rating:4.5/5

Army of Two:I didn’t finish this game, but I did invest 8-10 hours playing it. The game is all about working in tandem so it made for a great co-op experience, although playing it alone was not nearly as satisfying. I wouldn’t have paid full price for Army of Two, but at a reduced sticker price I can’t say no.My Rating:3/5

Burnout Paradise:No one hates racing games more than I do, and I can’t tell you how much I loved Burnout Paradise. Tight controls, a seemingly endless stream of game play variations, and stellar visuals & soundtrack kept me playing Burnout Paradise longer than I ever would have imagined myself playing a racing game. The seamless transition to multi-player was slick too. I will definitely be racing some more when the next Burnout game hits shelves. My Rating:4/5

Forza Motorsport 2:This is a tough one for me to weigh in on. I’m not a racing game fan, and while Burnout Paradise’s arcade type game play sucked me in, Forza is more of a driving simulator and I got sick of it pretty fast. The visuals were stunning, and everybody I know who likes racers spoke very highly of it, so it can’t be all bad right? My Rating 2/5

Mass Effect:The only problem with Mass Effect is that if you haven’t played it yet it’s probably not your type of game. For me though there was nothing better on the 360. Mass Effect was my perfect game. No word of a lie; I was so sucked in by the storyline and game play that I finished it at about 3am the night before my wedding because I knew if I didn’t, it would have to wait a week before I could wrap it up. Didn’t win me any bonus points from my soon to be wife, but a nerds gotta do what a nerds gotta do.My Rating 5/5

Viva Pinata:laugh if you must but I loved Viva Pinata. Sure it was a little too cute, but it was a deep and challenging simulator. Once I got past the fact that it wasn’t the most macho thing I’d ever done, I had many a fun filled Saturday trying to get my garden perfected. It was too cutesy and that’s why I eventually abandoned it for more manly endeavors (like Cooking Mama) but it was fun . Viva Pinata is the video game equivalent of a fat chick, no matter how much fun you have with it, you’d still prefer your friends not catch you throwing down your seeds into it. My Rating:3.5/5

Gears of War:This is an absolute must have title in any 360 collection. Gears of War was the first console game of this generation to literally take my breath away. The graphics are amongst the best I’ve ever seen, the shoot from under cover style of game play was something that was completely new, but worked perfectly, and the multiplayer experience was a ton of fun. The story was secondary to the action of the gameplay, the game itself felt a bit short and the voice acting wasn’t going to win any awards, but the characters were memorable enough that I couldn’t wait to find out what happened to them in the sequel. 4.5/5

Battlefield Bad Company:This is the only game of the bunch I didn’t play. Sorry, I wish I could give you more than that. For what it’s worth Gamepro.com loved it and gave the game 4.5/5 so it has to be worth 20 bucks.
